The Daffodils are Blooming: Health & Flex Open Enrollment Must be Around the Corner. Health Care and Flexible Spending Account Open Enrollment will run from mid-April through mid-May 2008. HR will send out information in the coming weeks to all employees eligible for health care and flexible spending accounts. But, to kick things off, here are a couple of things to keep in mind from the start: 1. Any changes made to either health benefits or flexible spending accounts are effective July 1, 2008. 2. You must re-enroll in flexible spending accounts each year. Your enrollment will not automatically continue. Keep an eye on this spot and the HR & Payroll website for more information. Eldercare Services. Eldercare Services are available to all faculty and staff who are (or will be) a caregiver for an older loved one. HR provides resource and referral information around the region, around the nation or beyond. HR also offers a seminar series on caregiving topics as well as a support group - an opportunity to share caregiving strategies that work or just talk. For more information, refer to the Eldercare Services website or call Patrice Winter, the Eldercare Coordinator at 993-1802. |

The Democracy Project presents Dr. Jim Pfiffner, Power Play: President Bush and the Constitution on March 24 at 1:30 pm in the Johnson Center Cinema. President Bush has asserted extraordinary executive power during his two terms in office. He has denied the writ of Habeas Corpus to individuals, he has evaded U.S. laws against torture, he has ordered secret surveillance of Americans, which is against the law, and he has used signing statements to undermine Article I of the Constitution. This talk will examine these policies and suggest that the precedents set are dangerous to the American Republic. |
