Coaching Corner

A large part of coaching your employees is asking them questions that stimulate thought and increase productivity. For example:
• What is our reason for doing this?
• What problem are we solving?
• Is the current way of doing things useful?
• What value are we adding?
• What other ways can we do this to make it easier?
• What do you recommend?

Little words can make all the difference in coaching for performance and process improvement. Be conscious to avoid words or phrases that might cause negative reactions like:
• "We can't launch the product without this feature." Instead, think in terms of what you can do to make the situation better.
• "You only have to … work harder, be more focused, etc." Be realistic about what needs to get done and specific about what it will take to get there.

Keep coaching for productivity every day and you're sure to see results.
